I bought my brother-in-law a cheap socket set for his new resturant a few years ago. He asked if he could borrow some tools, and (for my sanity) thought it would be a better idea to buy some for him.

It was a basic little 1/4” - 3/8” standard/metric little kit with a few bits, locking pliers, etc.. It was about $35.

I brought it to him and his partners, and they said, “Cool, thanks Mike!” Then proceeded to open it upside down. I watched sockets and bits roll off the bar table and bounce all over the dark floor. I don’t know if they ever got all the pieces back in, and I don’t care.

Ok. Now keep this situation in mind, but picture it focused about 20 years out. Living on land with people that don’t understand, boys that didn’t understand in their teens but do now in their twenties and random people coming in to molest your shit:

Except, it’s not just the screw box, it’s the entire 20 foot container you keep all your acquired tools and materials in over the previous years.

That’s me. Handling the stress. Fixing as needed except it takes 2 times as long, usually. No wonder I subscribe to the “Maximum Entertainment Value” system of life. I’d have to vaporize myself otherwise.
